Someone once said that when you dance your soul escapes you and makes friends with others. For me Pecha Kucha Night best represents that space where you can  let your mind go and be in a community thats sole purpose is to support and cultivate creative space and relationships. Devised in Tokyo in February 2003, the event was for young designers to meet, network, and show their work in public. A think tank for creative hipsters of sorts.
It has turned into a massive celebration, now in 135 cities, Pecha Kuchacontinues to inspire creatives worldwide. Drawing its name from the Japanese term for the sound of “chit chat”, it rests on a presentation format that is based on a simple idea: 20 images x 20 seconds. It’s a format that makes presentations concise, and keeps things moving at a rapid pace.
I have been fortunate to attend five events thus far and witnessed presentations from famous DJ’s, hairstylist, designers, chefs, illustrators, painters, singers, entrepreneurs, etc. If you have a chance, attend a Pecha Kucha Night near you. I know I am more interesting and inspired for doing so.
Shoot event the posters for Pecha Kucha are cool!
